Update on the credit/debit card compromise at Target Stores.
Target, along with Visa and MasterCard, have provided more information about the fraud that has occurred since the card compromise that took place from November 27 to December 15. Central Bank’s Fraud Protection systems are tracking the evolving situation very carefully to ensure our customers are protected to the fullest extent possible. We are following the bank’s compromise protocol to safeguard our customers and do not believe that cards will need to be closed and reissued. However, a reissue will be granted for any customer who requests it. To request a reissue, call Client Services at 859-253-6359 or 800-637-6884.
If a suspicious transaction occurs on a customer’s account our representatives will call to verify the date, time and amount of the transaction with the customer. That call will go to the phone number provided by the customer and the bank urges customers to provide a cell phone number as the most likely way to reach them. Central Bank will not ask customers for their account number, their PIN or any other personal information when we call. Please monitor your account and report any suspicious activity to your banking center or to Client Services at the number listed above.
Another method to protect customer debit and credit cards is to register your card information with v.me, an online fraud protection service provided by Visa. V.me can provide emails or text messages to customers regarding their card activity (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX or Discover) as a means for them to verify the transaction. The service is provided at no cost by Visa USA.
